My name is Kelsey Kayton. I'm currently a Ph.D. Student at Ohio University in the Experimental Psychology Program (with a concentration in Social Psychology) working with Dr. Keith Markman.
When I'm not working on my Ph.D. or related activities, I enjoy crocheting and playing tennis.
Feel free to contact me if you want to chat about social psychology, my specific research interests, or my experiences! :)
My research interests broadly involve understanding how reflections on the past and hypothetical situations shape one's views of their relationships with others and oneself.
My current projects incorporate the following topics:
Investigating the affective signature of nostalgia and how nostalgia impacts our current/future self-perceptions and relationships with others.
Examining how our perception of temporal distance affects the way we mentally reconstruct and simulate past events, as well as the self-related factors that contribute to one's perceptions of temporal distance from the past.
Analyzing how imagining alternative scenarios and engaging in counterfactual thinking influence our mental simulations of different self-concepts and possible futures.
